CA Tom Nekouei

Vice President

Captain Tom Nekouei is the second vice president of the Southwest Airlines Pilots Association (SWAPA). He was elected to his current position in a special election in June of 2020 to serve the remainder of the previous 2nd VP’s 2019-2020 term. Nekouei began his service to SWAPA as a CISM team member and then was elected to serve as the domicile representative for Denver for the 2015- 2016 two-year period. Nekouei was then re-elected in 2016 to serve his second consecutive two-year term as the Denver domicile representative.

He has been a pilot at Southwest Airlines for more than 16 years. Prior to Southwest, he worked at two different airlines and an airliner manufacturer (Airbus Industries).

Nekouei grew up in Germany and on the western slope of Colorado. He holds an undergraduate degree in aerospace studies with an emphasis on space and remote sensing policy from the University of North Dakota and is currently working on his masters degree in organizational leadership from the University of Denver.

Captain Nekouei currently resides in Denver with his 16-year-old daughter. In his leisure time, he coaches his daughter’s cross-country team and supports her Western-horse-riding adventures. They also travel around the world together during school breaks. His personal passions are training for ultra-long-distance running races in the summer and ski-mountaineering races in the winter.
